Just as September comes to a close, a very destructive 4-alarm fire occurred in southwest Baltimore at the Three Brothers Building.
The 4-alarm fire happened 8pm Friday September 20th. It took Fire fighters hours to get the fire under control; fire containment was achieved by 4:51 am Saturday September 21st.
The 100ft by 300feet Three Brothers Building housed a variety of businesses including a laundromat business and Internet cafe.
Without reliable firestops, the 4-alarm fire spread quickly and destroyed the entire building. It was so bad, fire fighters had to battle the fire from above and around the structure. At no time were they able to enter the Three Brothers Building.
The flames were already shooting out from the roof when Baltimore firefighters arrived on the scene. Luckily, there were no building occupants present at the time of the fire and no firefighters suffered injuries.
The Three Brothers Building meant a great deal to Baltimoreans as the building make locals recall good childhood memories. The cause of the fire hasn’t been identified and foul play is not out of the question.
The color of the smoke could help fire investigators determine the fuel source of the fire and where it ignited within the building.
