Fires don’t only affect buildings or other structures. When a fire erupts inside a vehicle, it can be just as terrifying and confusing as to when a fire starts in a high-rise or hotel.

Fires don’t only affect buildings or other structures. When a fire erupts inside a vehicle, it can be just as terrifying and confusing as to when a fire starts in a high-rise or hotel. Here is a look at the most common types of vehicles fire suppression systems.

Dry Suppression Systems

The first system that should warrant consideration is the dry suppression system. These systems deprive the fire of its oxygen supply, which makes it safe for the operator to deal with secondary firestarters – the objects around the fire that could ignite or combust and start the fire going again. Dry vehicle fire suppression systems are exceedingly useful, but they are not infallible. This means that any combustibles or anything other flammable needs to be removed or wetted down so that they won’t spark or catch fire.

Liquid Suppression Systems

Liquid vehicle fire suppression systems operate somewhat differently. They start by extinguishing or suppressing the fire. Then, they cool down anything that could be the kindling for the next light. Since it is a liquid, it can absorb into combustible materials, preventing them from catching fire. Since they perform both actions, liquid suppression systems are the most popular choice for many businesses to install in their buildings no matter what type of industry of purpose these buildings serve.

Dual Agent Suppression Systems

The dual agent suppressions utilize both dry and liquid suppression systems at the same time. The powder dispensed by the dry system puts out the fire, while the liquid dispensed by the wet suppression system helps cool down anything in the vicinity,

Systems for Smaller Vehicles

It’s also worth it to equip smaller vehicles with fire suppression systems. After all, not every car in your company’s fleet will be a large one, especially if you can only afford one car or truck at a time, to enable an employee to go offsite to film video content or perform other duties at a client location. Smaller systems can protect individual onboard components and prevent downtime that can cost your business money and other valuable resources such as time and reputation.
