Fire Alarm Systems

Fireline’s professional staff provides design, installation, programming and training of automatic detection and fire alarm systems to protect a wide variety of standard and special hazards systems. All system designs are reviewed by NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certified technicians, a recognized standard of excellence. In addition, all field personnel are factory trained on the products we sell. This ensures the very best service for our customers, from project concept to acceptance testing. In fact, in 2009, Fireline was recognized as Notifier’s Distributor of the Year.

Notifier Premiere Distributor

Notifier by Honeywell Logo

Notifier by Honeywell is one of the highest quality of fire alarm systems on the market. Fireline is proud to be chosen as a Notifier Premiere Distributor. We work hard to meet the qualifications necessary to achieve this level of distributorship and take pride in the product we offer.

Detection and Alarm Systems

Building fire alarm systems range from small, conventional systems to large computer based intelligent, networked systems. Fireline Corporation can provide the analysis, design and installation of systems best suited to provide a reliable, code compliant and cost effective solution. Fireline also can furnish and install mass notification alerting systems for commercial, industrial and educational facilities.

Fire Alarm systems are always evolving. Recent technology enhancements allow customers increased information and access to their fire alarm and monitoring system features. Customers can access their monitoring and alarm signals via an app on their phone. This can be done through our Monitoring App Service or through Honeywell’s new Connected Life Safety System (CLSS) platform.

Air Sampling Smoke Detection

Air sampling smoke detection systems provide the earliest possible warning in the event of a fire by taking a continuous sample of air in the protected area. This air sample is analyzed for minute particles generated by the products of combustion and is 1000 times more sensitive than standard ionization or photoelectric spot smoke detectors. When properly designed and installed these systems can detect fire in its earliest stages, alerting personnel and avoiding costly suppression system discharges.

Fireline offers the following products and services:

  • Fire alarm systems
  • Standard smoke and heat detection systems
  • Air sampling smoke detection systems
  • Flame detection systems
  • Voice evacuation systems
  • Mass notification systems

From concept to final inspection, Fireline brings experience and expertise to all phases of fire alarm and detection system projects.

How Much Do Fire Alarm Installations Cost?

There are several things you need to consider when researching new fire alarm systems:

  • How large is your building?
  • How old is your building?
  • Do you plan expansion of your building?
  • Is your building part of a campus style development?

First, look at the basic components of an addressable fire alarm system. The system consists of a control panel, communications equipment, annunciator (to direct occupants and emergency personnel), power supplies, heat and smoke detectors, manual pull stations, horns and strobe lights and speakers.

One of the largest expenses in a fire alarm system is the control panel. The price of the control panel is determined by the number and complexity of the auxiliary functions you want it to perform. A basic addressable fire alarm control panel will use horns and strobe lights to alert occupants, identify the location of the incident and transmit the information to the fire department through a U.L. listed central station.

A more complex system requires a more complex control panel and associated equipment. A voice evacuation or emergency communications system uses amplifiers, power supplies and speakers to transmit specific emergency messages. Networking to other fire alarm systems is also an option for campus style developments.

Size and age of the building are also factors when estimating cost. Larger buildings require more equipment (smoke detectors, manual pull stations, etc.) Older buildings present difficult installation challenges due to obsolete design and construction methods. Another factor is the future use and expansion of your building. More advanced fire alarm control panels have built in expansion capabilities and provide the flexibility to support future additions and renovations.

Basic Fire Alarm Systems: Initial Cost

The cost of a basic fire alarm system has four (4) components: Design, equipment, installation and commissioning. If this is a replacement project and there is an existing fire alarm system in place removal of the old equipment will add to the cost. Fire Alarm design is governed local fire codes and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. The cost of design documents (and permits) can range between $2,000.00 and $8,000.00 for an average sized commercial building. Permit costs vary by jurisdiction but are typically between $500.00 and $1,500.00.

Equipment costs are the one of the variables most affected by building size and the complexity desired by the end user. A basic addressable fire alarm control panel will cost between $2,000.00 and $5,000.00. The addition of emergency communications or networking functions will increase the cost commensurate with the complexity of the desired functions.

Initiating devices (smoke detectors, manual pull stations) and notification appliances (horns, strobe lights and speakers) cost between $100.00 and $200.00 each. Size of the building is paramount in the total cost of these devices as larger facilities need more equipment (spacing is based on building area, partitioning and occupancy). For example, residential buildings such as apartments and condominiums require more notification appliances than standard office buildings.

Voice Evacuation & Emergency Communications Systems

Voice evacuation and emergency communications systems provide enhanced messaging to building occupants. Emergency communications systems offer the ability to connect in a network, providing immediate, consistent and detailed messaging to a campus type facility over a wide range of media. Prices can vary from several thousand dollars to upwards of several hundred thousand dollars (or more) for campus style systems.
