Is it important to maintenance fire sprinkler systems?

Do you know what happens when a certified company like Fireline Corporation does not properly test your dry sprinkler system?

Pinhole leaks happen.

What are pinhole leaks?

Pinhole leaks are holes that form in water pipes from corrosion or bacteria that slowly develop in your sprinkler system.  These holes can lead to a faulty or leaking sprinkler system.

If your dry sprinkler system pipes are filled with pinhole leaks, it’s very unlikely that your sprinkler system will operate during a fire emergency.  Not to mention the water damage or mold that can occur if the system leaks after routine testing.

Fireline Corporation can assure you have a properly functioning sprinkler system at your facility by conducting an internal inspection.

We are well qualified to replace dry system piping that has pinhole leaks.

Sprinkler systems that are properly maintenance are significantly less likely to develop pinhole leaks. If you are having pinhole leak problems, Fireline Corporation is here to get in there and complete the service work needed to restore your sprinkler system to full functionality.

We highly recommend that you have a main drain flow test performed at least once a year for your automatic sprinkler system. A valve test should be completed at least every two years.

The following are other safety tests that should be completed, known as acceptance tests:

  • Hydrostatic tests for piping

  • Air tests in dry pipe systems

  • Dry pipe valve operation testing

  • Drainage testing

The standard sprinkler system should have the capability to flow water for at least 30 minutes during a fire emergency.

Here at Fireline Corporation we will ensure your facility has properly spaced sprinklers and all sprinklers are effectively operating.

Why is the maintenance and testing of fire sprinkler systems so crucial to fire safety?

Studies have shown sprinkler systems to be one of the most effective fire safety measurements for protecting life and property during a fire.

Here at Fireline Corporation, we inspect, test and maintain sprinkler systems in accordance with the NFPA 25 standard for water based fire protection systems. Requirements vary based on whether you have wet pipe or dry pipe sprinkler systems.
